Shortly after arriving in Burnsville back in June, I crystallized a fantasy that this Appalachian town – where prohibition had only been rolled back 10 years ago and, although there is a brewery pub, there is no place to go dancing – needed a dance hall.
(The red brick upstairs “night club” of Dr. Footloose – right next to the gray stone City Hall and police station.)
I found the exact right spot for this club, right off the Town Square – in the form of abandoned antique shop and, before that, the town post office.
I elaborated this fantasy with a wish to take possession Dash – by renting or buying – of this commercial property by my birthday weekend: Saturday, September 26, 2020.
None of that happened, but I did return to the back lot of the proposed future “Dr. Footloose night club and dance hall” on September 26 – where I shot a video describing my relationship to Burnsville and my dreams for this club.
